BONUS: A Catholic Response to Pride Month

June 11, 2021

Catholics should not support LGBTQ Pride Month.

I felt it was important to record this video. This is airing in the middle of Pride Month, and Catholics need to have the courage to stand up for Church teaching and state that they cannot support Pride Month.

Now to be clear: the Church does NOT say we should hate people who experience same-sex attraction. It DOES say that we ought to treat them with respect and compassion. But that does NOT mean we can say their actions themselves are properly ordered.

So first we’re going to take a quick look at what the Catechism actually says about this topic. Then I’ll offer you some hope by showing you messages from bishops who are publicly taking a stance for the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexuality.

    Good day,

first of all, thank you for having the courage to say what you did. I found it insightful and thought provoking. One question I do have… living as a “gay” man in the Church, I find that there aren’t really that many resources. I’ve partaken in many events and seminars and prayer groups but am always faced with the awkward reality of always bearing so much responsibility in the delivery of the reasons why I: 1) can’t join an order; 2) am not married; 3) will presumably never marry or at least not any time soon, etc.. It’s hard to get to know people without having the fact of my orientation placed in the middle of the relationship; maybe I’m too personal for not wanting to divulge that much information but “fitting in” with the catholic majority isn’t easy. Many that I know – myself chief among them – are starving for more from the Magisterium. Or even just more comment in general from catholic media; interviews with catholic “gay” men and such.

With you in prayer and unity!
